In all probability he died at the beginning of the Afghan campaign along with his second in command. It suits both terrorist purposes and the West to keep him alive, he’s both saviour and bogey man. It’s interesting to note that on more recent pictures he appears to be getting younger. Perhaps he is using Botox and L ‘Oriel Recital.
